Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Chandigarh to Shimla
Reporting at Shimla today, we get to explore the British summer capital as it has been in its glory back in time. Many of our foundations were established, brainstormed and thought through here.
Its a reporting day and place. No sightseeing included here. Dinner at Shimla Hotel.
Day 2 Shimla to Sangla
After early morning breakfast at Shimla, we head towards Sangla via interesting sights like Narkanda, Rampur, Jeori hot water spring, Kafnour, Tapri, Sangla
Day 3 Sangla to Tabo
We venture deeper into Sangla valley towards Batseri, Rakcham, Chitkul (the last village of India) and return to heard towards Tabo. We leave Kinnaur district and enter Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. The transition of thick jungles to dry arid desert is something one can’t miss. We enter into Hangrang valley through Koh loops after witnessing the Setluj-Spiti river confluence at Khab. Khab is the place where international waters of Sutlej enters again in India from China.
Day 4 Tabo to Kaza
The vibes of peaceful, spiritual Spiti are felt as soon as we enter Tabo village. No wonder it’s popular religious place in Budhhism since 996 CE. The murals in the monastery are still intact and well maintained. After morning prayers at monastery, we visit Dhankhar. Dhankhar has been capital of Spiti back in time due to its strategic placement overlooking vast regions from North to South and entrance of Pin valley in the west.
After optional trek of Dhankhar, we head towards the current administrative capital of Spiti – Kaza.
It comes as a surprise how modern yet the roots are still in past where we get to relish on continental food in cafes to warm hospitality of the residents makes you wonder if such a heavenly place exists..!
It’s absolutely impossible to imagine a trip without shopping something regional. Seize the day, take a stroll in beautiful market of Kaza.
Day 5 Kaza sightseeing
It’s an important day of Spiti safari. You’ll be visiting most of the iconic places of Spiti valley today itself yet we will be back by lunch time and grab much needed rest as journey ahead is demanding and you need to be absolutely refreshed.
Places : Langza (the fossil village and maitreya budhha statue), Hikkim (highest post office in the world), Komik(Highest village in the world*), Ki monastery
Day 6 Kaza to Nako
Today, after a delicious breakfast, we will begin our journey to Nako, a beautiful mountain village. Enroute, we shall visit Gue Monastary- the only Monastary known to be a home to the famous lama- Samgha Tenzin. We will then head towards we will head towards the Nako village. Nako village is the first culturally Spitian village that we will come across today.
It houses a beautiful Naka monastery and breathtaking lake both of which we will visit.
Onward, we will reside in Nako for the evening.
Day 7 Nako to Sarahan
Today, we will be heading back from Nako to Sarahan after a sumptuous breakfast. We will now be heading to a lower altitude with some amazing views that you can get to see and you descend.
Day 8 Sarahan to Shimla
We head back to Shimla from Sarahan and visit the british colonial town in its glory. it’s day for shopping on the popular mall road, hog the junk food which we may have missed since over a week during the trip, walk down the historic places of interests like Ridge, Christ Church, Scandal point as time permits.
Day 9 Shimla to Chandigarh drop
After this amazing tour, we are all set to head home today with some amazing memories of this beautiful region in white!
