Overview

A pure bliss as such is Himachal Pradesh. Location ranging from 1526 feet to more than 6816 feet above the sea level, Himachal Pradesh is also known as “Land of the Gods”, as it is a breathtaking hill state of India. Covered in snow, this hill state is populated with some of the most humble people that you will ever have a chance to meet and the beauty of this state is defined by the many UNESCO world heritage sites that it houses. Its scenic views consist of villages and big old monasteries scattered on its land and a lot of rivers reflecting the sun rays cutting right through its gigantic, white cloaked mountains. So, pack your bags because Devbhumi is calling.

Itinerary

Day 1 Chandigarh to Shimla

Reporting at Shimla today, we get to explore the British summer capital as it has been in its glory back in time. Many of our foundations were established, brainstormed and thought through here.
Its a reporting day and place. No sightseeing included here. Dinner at Shimla Hotel.

Day 2 Shimla to Narkanda

Today, after an early morning breakfast, we will head towards Narkanda and we will take the route that goes through Kufri. The scenic beauty from the hilltop is one of the strong reasons why one wouldn’t want to miss visiting Kufri when visiting Shimla. On our way, we will also visit the Zoo and the amusement park – Kufri Fun World.
After spending some time over there, we will resume our journey to Narkanda. Narkanda is the region where Asia’s first Apples were planted by a Britisher. It is quite a different feeling of stepping on the very ground which defines agriculture of the whole state today.
Upon reaching Narkanda, we will visit the TanniJubbar lake. After clicking some pictures, we will head towards your stay for the day – Hatu homestay.
Remember, it’s a homestay, i.e. we are going as paid guests at someone’s residence. Experience the hospitality and culture of Himachali people. Try not to feel jealous of living at a home which offers a constant breathtaking view of the jungle and the valley where the watch stops ticking. It is possible that you may not want to come back. Today, we will wake-up early to start our safari towards Narkanda. We will have finger- licking breakfasts. On our way, we will witness the tiny little village living with nature in harmony which also happens to recite one more chapter of history as it is where Asia’s first apples were planted; Narkanda. The Tani Jubbar lake, Tani Jubbar nature reserve are nestled right in this town of Narkanda. Quick instagram worthy pics and some history lessons, we head towards Rampur which is the winter capital of the Bushahr Dynasty and houses the majestic Padam Palace right in the centre of the town which is also one place that we will visit.
After spending some time over there, we will travel away from the Sutlej river to the summer capital of Bushahr Dynasty – Sarahan. Also known as the Gateway to Kinnaur district i.e. the end of Shimla district.
Upon reaching Saharan, we will check- in and spend the rest of the evening in leisure.

Day 3 Narkanda to Sangla

Today, we will travel from Narkanda to Sangla. On our way, we will cover Rampur, Chitkul and Rakcham. Upon reaching Chitkul and spending some time over there, we will come back to Sangla and spend the rest of the night in leisure at our stay over there.

Narkanda– Tiny villages on the tiny roads of Thanadar and Narkanda make you get lost in the beauty of the place in such a way that one can never get enough of looking at it. Thanadar is the village where Asia’s first Apples were planted by a Britisher.
Rampur– Also known as the winter capital of Bushahr dynasty. Over here, one can visit the beautiful Padam palace which is nestled calmly in the middle of a bustling market. One can also attend the prayers at Bhima Kali temple.
Rakcham– Elevated at a height of 2900 m, this village has a very sparse population but a very beautiful landscape. Snow- peaked mountains, lush green aura, two temples and heartfelt people is this village’s specialty.
Chitkul– It is one of the most scenic settlements in the valley and the last inhabited village before the India-China border. A short drive to Chitkul is known to be one of the most scenic drives one can ever take with plenty of opportunities to take stunning photographs provided. One can take a walk around the Bapsa river and pay one’s tribute to the Mathi Goddess at the temple in the village.
Sangla– With the Baspa river magically weaving itself through the forested slopes, this exquisite stretch of the Sangla Valley is a sight to behold. Known predominantly for its agriculture, almost every house in Sangla will have cultivations of apples, pears, walnuts, apricots or potatoes.

Day 4 Sangla to Tabo

Today we will make a move from Sangla to reach Kalpa. Kalpa is known to be one of the most beautiful villages of Himachal Pradesh. As we travel along the Baspa river in the Sangla valley, we will rejoin the Sutlej river as we climb the other side of the Kinnaur district namely, Kalpa. This village gives a spectacular view of the Kinner Kailash mountain range. We will relax in the peaceful vibes of the less disturbed Himalayas and slip into good night sleep.

On our way, we will also visit Chitkul. It is one of the most scenic settlements in the valley and the last inhabited village before the India-China border. A short drive to Chitkul is known to be one of the most scenic drives one can ever take with plenty of opportunities to take stunning photographs provided. One can take a walk around the Bapsa river and pay one’s tribute to the Mathi Goddess at the temple in the village.

Day 5 Tabo to Dhankar monastery & lake trek, Pin valley

Today, we will travel from Tabo to Pin valley. Pack your shoes for the day because we might also take an optional lake trek. Beauty of this route and the adventure cannot be expressed in words. On our way to Pin valley, we will explore the villages and the monasteries of Tabo and then head towards the Dhankar monastery and lake where we will take our optional trek plan into action. We will also visit Kungri on our way. Upon reaching Pin valley, we will check- in our stay and spend the rest of the evening mesmerized by the serenity that we experienced throughout the day.

Tabo- Tabo houses an ancient monastery which is known to be one of the holiest. It is known to be a thousand years old and it is also where monks used to meditate. The aura of this place is so positive that one can feel relaxed the moment one has stepped in the village.
Dhankar Monastery- This monastery is located atop a hill and overlooks the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers. The beauty of this monastery itself is quite splendid.
Dhankar lake- Dhankar lake is a 1.5 hours trek at a higher altitude. The lake is surrounded by gigantic brown coloured mountains and gives a feel of a bowl carefully preserving glacial melted water. To sit beside the lake on a rock and take in the splendid landscape is a bliss in its own.
Kungri- Over here, we will visit the Kungri Gompa which is the second oldest monastery in Spiti valley. Established in 1330 the Gompa is noted for its sword dance by the buzhens of Mudh village on the right bank of the Pin River.

Day 6 Pin valley to Kaza

Today, we will head to Kaza – a happening little village in Spiti Valley-Kaza, where we can relish lunch at some of the best cafes of Kaza. You will also get a chance to visit the Highest Post Office in the World where you can write a short postcard to your loved ones from the ‘Top of The World’

Day 7 Kaza sightseeing

It’s an important day of Spiti safari. You’ll be visiting most of the iconic places of Spiti valley today itself yet we will be back by lunch time and grab much needed rest as journey ahead is demanding and you need to be absolutely refreshed.
Places : Langza (the fossil village and maitreya budhha statue), Hikkim (highest post office in the world), Komik(Highest village in the world*), Ki monastery

Day 8 Kaza to Chandratal

After an early morning breakfast, we will start the day by heading towards the snow leopard village – Kibber via Chicham pass which is the world’s highest bridge at 4037m(13,244ft) from sea level. Crossing the infamous Kunzum pass, we will take an off road to Chandratal along the river Chenab.
It is one of the most beautiful lakes of Himachal. Spending evening at the bank of lake or offering respects by taking a walk through the periphery of the lake (Pradakshina) not only gives the Spiritual feels but also gives the serenity of different areas around the lake – from mountain slopes to marshes to streams bringing glacial melted water into the lake. Herds of sheep, goats and yak grazing around, hunter birds like Himalayan Griffon, Lammergeier, Golden Eagle, and many more signs of wildlife are present in the protected region of Chandra tal.

Day 9 Chandratal to Manali

Our Last phase of the safari begins today. We will head towards Manali via the Rohtang pass (If open) while we cherish the beautiful landscapes on our way. We will also visit Batal, Chhatru and Gramphu. Upon reaching Manali, we will check- in our stay and spend the rest of the evening in leisure.

Batal – Surrounded by mountains, Chenab flows right through the middle of this little settlement located in the Pir Panjal valley.
Chhatru– Chhatru is the place where you can stop and take a lunch halt with a spectacular view or rather, spectacular views all around you. It is also an internationally recognised Bouldering site. Many legends and champions have dreamt of practicing Bouldering here.
Gramphu – the check point where you decide whether you want to continue your journey further north of is it time to return. Also, it’s the village where your phone breaks silence and gets connected to the network tower of your Service provider.

If we get lucky enough to find enough time, we will take to ourselves some breathing room as we will get the chance to explore the lush greenery of Manali. We can roam around on the mall road for some shopping and palette pampering if time permits

Day 10 Manali Local Sightseeing

Today, we will have a rather laid back day as we will spend the day doing some local sightseeing and strolling around the region. We will visit the old city of Manali, the Hadimba temple and the Vashisht temple. As we visit the Vashisht temple, we will also take a visit to the Vashisht village and the hot water springs that the village houses. We will also visit the iconic Hadimba temple, Ghatotkach temple and the cultural museum which has a lot of historical knowledge and things to offer the sights of. In the evening, we will visit the Manu temple and hop onto different cafes to cherish the continental delicacies. If you agree, we can also take an optional trek to the Jogini waterfall.

Day 11 Manali to Mandi

Today we will head towards Mandi from Manali and on our way, we will visit the Prashar lake. It’s one of the most beautiful lakes of Himachal in the Mandi district provided the roads are open and if time permits.

The lake is situated on the top of a mountain and is known to be a popular trek amongst various adventure enthusiasts. The breathtaking views from the top of the mountain, being above the clouds, layers of Dhauladhar mountain range one after another, the wind, mysterious tiny moving islands in the lake are a few things you can’t get enough of.

After spending some relaxing time near the lake, we will head towards Mandi and stay the night over there upon reaching and checking- in.

Day 12 Mandi to Chandigarh drop

After this amazing tour, we are all set to head home today with some amazing memories of this beautiful region in white!

Day 9 Chandratal to Jispa enroute Keylong

Today, we will move towards the next phase of our journey i.e. towards the capital of Lahaul and Spiti valley – Keylong. This journey that goes through Batal, Chhatru and Gramphu is a back breaking journey. It goes through the most rough roads and one cannot even imagine the kind of thrill and adrenaline rush this route gives. Crossing through streams flowing through the road, one has to literally balance the vehicle in such a way that it does not get swept in and washed off the river flowing parallel to the route.
Keylong faces the famous Kardang Monastery, the largest and most important monastery in Lahaul. On our way from Chandratal we will visit Batal, Chhatru and Gramphu. Upon reaching Jispa, we will check- in our stay and spend the rest of the evening in leisure.

Batal- Surrounded by mountains, Chenab flows right through the middle of this little settlement located in the Pir Panjal valley.
Chhatru– Chhatru is the place where you can stop and take a lunch halt with a spectacular view or rather, spectacular views all around you.
Gramphu– Gramphu is from where you can experience the beauty of the chandratal lake, snow- clad mountains and colorful monasteries. It is also where the spiti cut can be found.

Day 10 Day visit to Udaipur & Triloknath

Today, we will head towards the Udaipur village. Over there, we will visit the Trilokinath Temple and do some sightseeing on foot.

The temple is 45 kms from Keylong and the ancient name of the village is Tunda Vihar. The temple is a holy shrine important to both Hinduism and Buddhists. Hindus worship it for Lord Shiva and Buddhists worship it for Arya Avalokiteshwar.

Return to Jispa for the night.

Day 11 Jispa to Manali

Today, we will head towards Manali as it is the second last day of our trip. On our way, we will visit Rohtang, Sissu, Marhi and Gulaba. Upon reaching Manali, we will check- in our hotel and spend the rest of the night in leisure.

Sissu– This is the village where the most rare colour combination of nature, orange and white, can be enriched with our naked eyes. At Sissu, you will see layers of white embellished with golden trees. Nothing feels more like autumn than Sisu.
Rohtang La– An epitome of natural beauty, Rohtang Pass has unparalleled majesty. It is one of the highest passes in the Himalayas and invites you to get lost in some of the most pristine and special views of the Himalayas.
Marhi– The midpoint between Manali and Rohtang La, trekking from Manali, all the way up to Marhi to have something to eat surrounded by the snow- capped mountains is like a dream of wonderland.
Gulaba– This beautiful small village is home to a serene natural landscape which is famous amongst many tourists. One can trek and set a camp in this village surrounded with snow, lush greenery and beautiful valleys.

Day 12 Manali Local Sightseeing

Today, we will have a rather laid back day as we will spend the day doing some local sightseeing and strolling around the region.
