THE FORT AT KANHERI CAVES, SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK, BORIVALI, MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA.

A war took place between Chalukya (Gujarat) king and Shilhara king around 1150-1170 CE. The Gujarat king’s commander had been defeated by the Shilhara king and took refuge at Kanheri. After receiving some help, the Gujarat king’s commander again attacked the Shilhara king and won the battle.

There is another reference to a political scene around 1000-1100 CE about Raja Bimba who resided at Kanheri and commanded his officers. The relics of these fortifications can be seen even today at Kanheri.
