Between the north and the south hills at Kanheri Caves, runs a small stream, on which a dam was built then by the Buddhist establishment at that time.

The remains of this prehistoric dam are still existing and can be seen. Though you may have walked over these 2 dams, you may not have realized that you just crossed over a relic from the glorious ancient past!

The 2 dam walls are made from stone and rubble. In this way continuous water supply was ensured for the dwellers at Kanheri even during the dry summer months!
